I just wanted to share with you a couple of photos that I took as we were leaving the Shaumburg Rennaisance Hotel and Convention Center. I can see why they decided to change centers. Everything about this hotel was fiber, texture, design, and color.
Here is the giant fireplace---look at the size and design---wouldn't you love to have that in your living room--
There were little sitting nooks shattered all over the hotel and the knitters took advantage of every one of them to do just a few more rows on their projects. Here are a few:
Color and design was everywhere you turned---the carpet:
Many works of art, both in paintings and decor:
There was even fiberey goodness in the lobby. Take a look at this display of fabric hanging from the ceiling:
There was a table with a "tree" of orchids in the entrance lobby:
and John's favorite part of the hotel was the TV that was inside the mirror over the vanity in the bathroom of our room:
I just thought you might like to see what a wonderful place Stitches had chosen for its convention in Chicago. It was truly a wonderful place.
By the way, I believe---truly believe---that the hotel turned the air conditioning down to zero so all the knitters would be in the mood to knit and buy lucious yarn. That was by far the coldest place I've been in for a while. And yes, I did buy yarn---so I guess it worked. ;)
I love that carpet in the 5th photo (above the painting photo). Those are exactly the colours I want in my living room.

OK - I've seen a lot of great hotels, but the TV in the mirror is pretty darned cool. Looks like a fabulous event and I can confess I'm a bit green with envy. The hotel seems dreamy.
