Isn't there a song by that title?
It may be just my imagination, but there has been a feeling of fall for the last couple of mornings around here. As you may remember, we live on the very top of a mountain and for the last few days, we have been socked in with the clouds. It has been cool and just sort of an autumney feeling in the air---I know, this is just the end of July, but it's there.
This was what it looked like outside this morning at 7:30:
And this is what it looked like at 10:00:
By golly, I think it's going to be a beautiful day after all.
Before we get away from the morning clouds, look at this. It looks like the entire holly tree is enveloped in spider webs----well, that's exactly what it is. Never even knew they were there until the dew hit them this morning. Doesn't this have kind of an eery yet beautiful look?
Getting a little closer, look at the intricacy of these webs. Click on the image for a closer look at how lacy and elegantly they are woven. Remind you of anything? Maybe that lacy shawl you were knitting? Nature is truly amazing!!!
Speaking of my imagination......mine is going wild. I showed you this Dale of Norway sweater the other day that I made for Alicia.
I had some yarn left over from this because I was going to make another one. I started out using the basic "Green Gables" pattern (knitted from the neck down). I'm now down to where I put the sleeves on a holder. I made the sleeve seams a little longer since this is a cardigan and I'll be wearing something under the sweater. I cast on extra stitches across the back (not sure if I needed to do this or not---but I did). I intend to have a 5 stitch ribbing go up the front and then pick up stitches around the neck for a small ribbing. I think I'll do these in the green. I may change my mind, but that's the plan right now. Oh this is fun!
So here is where I am on the cardigan this morning. I started my green stripe a little too soon because I was impatient; but, that's ok...I'm using my imagination. So, I've had to work out a plan to randomly separate the stripes. I want to start the colored stripes just at the armhole and one, maybe two will be carried on across the sleeves.
(Will show photo tomorrow as I want to get this posted today)
So, as you can see, "It's just my imagination" working overtime. It's so much fun to improvise!!!
See you tomorrow!

Those are beautiful pictures! I'm so jealous too - like most of the country we are dying in the heat around here. I can't WAIT for the hint of fall in the air.

I can't wait to be back home. The air just smells better there. I always sleep so well when I'm there too, hopefully the air will have the same effect on Nathan?! Sleeo through the night? Maybe! Love all the purple stuff you got, you will have so much fun with it! I love you and I'll talk to you tomorrow. I'll you with Nathan's weight!

Gosh, that's pretty. You have such a lovely view! I have been thinking the same thing about fall, although it hasn't been because of any drop in temps. Here in the upstate, it is as hot as ever! It's the morning light that has been feeling different to me...sort of longer shadows across the kitchen these days. I can't wait--fall is my favorite season. Well, maybe winter is, I don't know. All I know is that summer is *not* my favorite season!

Elizabeth
The web photo is absolutely wonderful. I have never seen or imagined something so lovely. YES it reminds me of intricate lace shawls. We copy nature all the time don't we?
Your gift sleeveless is gorgeous. Wonderful blending of colors.
What with all the school ads, :(, I too have begun to let fall thoughts creep in.

I love the part of the world you live in - God's country. My brother lives in Montreat, not far you at all.

So how fast do you think those spiders "knit" that lacey tree shawl? Perhaps they can be hired for the upcoming gift-giving season!
I love the tank top.
